P3 Strikes Again!

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Okay, if you read my other blog entry, this is just as much of a pain… I got denied for having another “sponsored” post up on my site in between my two paid posts… This was my reply:

First off I used to be able to call Izea customer support when I had a problem, what happened to that? And why is it that when I need to send an email I have to go through 4 steps just to try and send an email?

I have been blogging with you guys for the last year now, my first blog got hit and reduced it’s PR from a 3 to a 0, after a long time of rebuilding I finally have another blog with a PR3 that I’ve been using. In the last month and a half I’ve done 56 posts for your company, on this one blog, and some others on my original blog. I’ve made over $800 in that time, of which I know your company makes 35% and $5 per opporunity posted. So my contribution alone has brought in $280 for your company in about the last month or so. As a full time blogger I would think that you would like to help me stay around and continue helping your company what it is. Without bloggers you don’t have any advertisers, and without advertisers you don’t have a job.

Therefore I am very confused as to why you are trying to drive bloggers away. Especially this reviewer you have Erin. Over the last year, and 137 posts I have not had any troubles with my blogging techniques. I have advertisements on my site, none of them detract from, nor disqualify advertisers posts. Yet in the last month I have had several of my opportuniites denied by Erin because on my HOME page, not within the posts, but only on the home page there are in text Kontera ads. I was finally tired of getting posts denied because of it so I removed them from Archmaille.com (my new blog). My old blog codysortore.com/blog/ still has them, and has never had a problem over the last year.

Now that I have removed those I am now being denied for not having a clear “disclosure policy” which is utter crap. My disclosure policy is very good, very clear, and does not mislead my readers in any way. Yet, because my disclosure policy is not going to get my pagerank stripped away Erin does not like it, and has requested that I give up all PageRank and quit making your company money. Excuse me, but no. I will not give up my PageRank again just so that Erin can sleep at night.

The problem is such that I have my disclosure policy under a “Policies” page which contains multiple policies about copyright, paid posting, and other important items to my readers. “Policies” pages have been around for just about as long as the internet, and have been widely known ever since the ecommerce boom on the internet. My readers know what they will find under the Policies page, and so do people just passing by my pages who are not regular readers. Erin wants me to rename that page to “Disclosure Policy” which not only confuses readers, it also gives a nice big fat red flag to Google that say’s “Yes, please remove all PageRank from my site.” Which I will not do. People don’t know what a Disclosure Policy page is, and I won’t be conformed to your cookie cutter blog pattern that gives so many bloggers trouble with the search engines.

My site does very well thank you, if I ever feel the need to destroy all chances of having readers again, or get myself removed from the search engines I will contact Erin. Until that day comes I’m perfectly content with my PR3 website, and will be submitting another PR3 site here shortly when it has 20 posts. I don’t want either one to be reduced to PR0’s at the moment though. If there is no change, and you would still like for me to reduce my site to a PR0 that is fine, it has been nice doing business with you while it lasted, I will blog exclusively for ReviewMe.com from what I hear advertisers with them pay better any ways.

P3 is a pain!

Gah!  Okay, so I’ve been slacking on here and didn’t get any posts in because I’ve had to deal with stupid ass P3 representatives all day long!  First I get denied… well let me put their denial:

Thanks for blogging with PayPerPost! Your sponsored post looks great, Cody!

In reviewing your post, however, it seems your disclosure is a bit too vague or unclear to meet the requirements in the PPP Terms of Service. We do see that you have indicated your disclosure by a Policies link under Pages on the left sidebar. Please remember PPP requires: that disclosure be made in a meaningful way that makes clear to an ordinary consumer that there is a relationship between the Blogger and the Advertiser. Simply rewording this link as “Disclosure Policy” will do the trick. Please provide a more obvious means of disclosure and resubmit your post for reconsideration. Thank you! -Erin

Right, so my response to that was:

First off I used to be able to call Izea customer support when I had a problem, what happened to that? And why is it that when I need to send an email I have to go through 4 steps just to try and send an email?

Ah I’m slackin!

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Wow, I can’t believe that it’s already been three days.  I was just sort of slacking off because I honestly was thinking that I had more time to wait before my stuff even published!  It is very evident though that I don’t have that time :-P

Anyways, I’ve got some killer awesome, good and fun news!  You’ve got to wait until the next post to find out, but let’s just say the site may be bouncing here soon!  ;-)

We like bouncing websites.  ApplyMyWay.com as I said before may be outsourced a little bit, I already got some help on the Javascript end!  Thanks to www.wikijava.org the guy who runs the site offered his services for FREE just so long as I help him get a little bit of word out about the site, which I fully intend to do!  So once all that is rolling I plan on getting 100,000 people or more the first month of ApplyMyWay.com being up and running!  I fully expect all the help that I can get on that issue too ;-) Once that is going I would LIKE to be making a couple hundred, if not into the thousands a month with that site… plus all the P3 stuff that I’ll be doing, especially once this here blog is approved ;-) things will be looking up.

Outsourcing…

There are just some times when you can’t do everything.  Unfortunately I make little enough money that paying someone to do things for me would be out of the question… so I get stuck in this perpetual cycle of not getting things done, and them not being done so I can’t make money from it.  There comes a point in every persons life though where they have to realize that they can’t do everything, and just suck it up.

I still don’t have just tons of money, but what I have found is a trade!  :-D  I’ve got a guy who’s trying to launch a java website, and myself trying to launch ApplyMyWay.  I’ve also got 4 years of marketing experience.  So the trade is some help from him on Ajax stuff for the site, and to him I give 4 years of online marketing experience.  Not only by telling him things he could do, but I will also gladly help him out by creating some buzz around his website.

Home Made Jewelry Cleaner

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Alright, do I have you all waiting on my update yet?  I know, it’s been almost a whole day since I promised the secret of making your own jewelry cleaner, but I wanted to make sure that you all were paying attention!

Now, here’s what I do.  I could always spend TONS of money on expensive jewelry cleaners from my magazines, not only the creams they sell for sterling silver jewelry cleaners in stores, I’m talking industrial strength eat your face off kind of jewelry cleaners!  (So maybe not quite eat your face off, but you get the point) First off most of that is overkill, secondly a lot of those industrial cleaners can eat away at glued points of your jewelry, and even I use a few dabs of glue here and there.  They’re also expensive!  So let’s get to what it takes to make your own jewelry cleaner:

Supplies

  • a small bucket or tupperware container (I use the disposable ones)
  • ammonia
  • dish soap
  • rubbing alcohol (90% pure is best but whatever works)
  • distilled water

Process

It’s very simple, take your tupperware container, pour in about 1/3 of it with ammonia.  Now take your dish soap, about 4 tablespoons of it, mix that in with your ammonia (try not to splash around, but the ammonia also works good for stripping the soap off of your spoon).  Now mix in another 1/3 with rubbing alcohol.  Finally top it off with distilled water.  Stir things up a bit (or if you used a lidded item you can put the lid on and shake) and you’re good to go!

Alternatively you can skip the distilled water all together just mix half and half ammonia and rubbing alcohol for maximum strength.

You’ll need to replace the rubbing alcohol from time to time.  It evaporates quickly, that’s why we use it after your jewelry has soaked for a little while when you remove it, it will dry quickly because of the rubbing alcohol.
