Cost Captain

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Alright, it’s time to take the Queen CD out of my player and put Linkin Park in… this is a job for Linkin Park. Storyline: I took an opportunity for a company called Cost Captain from the P3 website to blog about CostCaptain in my personal blog here. Cost Captain was offering $9 for the post and only required 50 words, for a link that said www.costcaptain.com pretty easy right? I thought so! In fact it was too easy… CostCaptain sells Microsoft products, Cost Captain specialize in the order of selling Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows Vista packages at student discount prices. I wrote a 100 word article about such deals because the more my site relates to Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows Vista products the more they get the value for it to their website which in turn translates to more search engine queries for the terms Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Windows. The problem with my post was that I also included CostCaptain’s description on the P3 website IN ADDITION to the article that I wrote, because it gave them a much better link rating because of the keyworded specificness of Cost Captain description. I thought I was doing Cost Captain a favor, Cost Captain thought otherwise. This is the description:

CostCaptain.com is a Microsoft Authorized Education Reseller. We sell the brand new Office 2007 Suite and Vista to students and staff of schools, libraries and research labs. Home schools qualify too. We have served hundreds of schools, colleges and libraries and thousands of students and staff members.

We offer:

- 100% Authentic Microsoft products at academic discounts

- Microsoft Office 2007 from $129, Vista Upgrade from $89

- Friendly customer service.

- Buyers provide academic eligibility and after that the product is shipped

- Gift certificates that are a great way to give especially during holiday season

Very good keywording if you ask me… but hey, I’m no SEO expert or anything, just because I ranked number two and three on Google for the term “Cost Captain” simply by writing the Cost Captain article on my website… I mean I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about apparently… so therefore I won’t know what I’m talking about all over the net. Cost Captain said that they wouldn’t pay me and denied my post until it was rewritten because I “wrote the article using their description” Obviously the company didn’t want any sort of SEO relevancy so I rewrote the post, I put a 150 or so word description of why I rewrote the article the way I did on top and left what I had described before on the rest… just translated it. You see not only am I a blogger, webmaster of over 9 websites, internet marketing coach, but I also use Opera as my main browser of choice… I just like it. It’s not for everyone, I suggest FireFox for most people (as most of you already do since my stats say that 2/3 of my visitors are FireFox users). I used a widget on my Opera browser to translate the article into Ł337 5ρ34|< (or more commonly known as 1337 5p34k the translator is just hardcore). They didn’t like that either and banned me on P3 which is fine, ban me all you want… my site is more SEO friendly and optimized than your site will ever be, that’s your loss. Of all the bloggers who took your opportunity who ranks for your websites keywords? Oh that’s right, it’s me. I just want my money from the deal… that’s all. So therefore I’m taking my money that Cost Captain won’t pay me. If I can’t get it from the P3 website I will make damn sure I get it from ad revenue on my website.

Ads on the blog

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

Ok, as I said before the advertisements have been moved to the blog as well! Hopefully that will bring in a little more money and allow me to do this full time rather than a somewhat partial part time thing :-P Thanks everybody for understanding the need for this on the site, I hope it hasn’t driven away too many people.

Ads on site

Friday, December 14th, 2007

I held off for a long time, but the revenue just isn’t coming in from Archmaille Designs so I had to put ads up. They’ll also be put here on the blog shortly, which I’ll no doubt post about when I get that done as well. I can’t sit around and make absolutely nothing from a site for so long. With all my other sites I’ve never lost money from having websites up, however, this one has not been paying for itself, and it needs to. I get 1,500 unique visits a month here which makes it the most active of my websites, and with 6,000 page views a month it should be doing better than what it is… unfortunately it is not so I must get it to making the kind of money that it should of been making all along.

Random update

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Hello my friends, and patrons! This is Cody your host and store owner :-D I’m just dropping in to say hello and happy holidays! I’ve been working fervently this season to get the best products available to my customers! It’s been a hard fight, and one that I fear I’ll have to mostly pick up for next year, but it has also been pretty good. I’ve been working on promoting the website, and it has been a particularly tough battle with ranks in Google! But we’re making our way :-)

Just an update

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

Hey guys! I’m back online. Most of you probably didn’t even know I went off line this time did you? Yeah, sorry about not updating things on here, thing is I couldn’t really. I’m getting ready to move out and go live with my cousin Jordan who has already moved out… sort of forced to in a way. I’m going to help them out with the bills a bit and get myself out of here. Anyways, the thought of me moving has prompted a few changes. One of which being my mother got a new computer for the family, since the one being used was mine I just allowed for everyone else to use it. Since she did that I moved my computer to my room, and set up the other computer… the Cat5 cable I had didn’t connect for me so I had to order a new Cat6 so I could connect and have been running online since. If you’ve noticed I started adding all of my pages to Wists which is where most of the recent blog entries has come from and that got a bit interrupted. I’ll probably get back to that shortly so that I can get all of my merchandise listed on Wists. Other than that there really isn’t a whole lot else to update, hopefully sales pick up for the Holiday Season and soon I will be adding a swords section… which will be more of it’s own little site for when I get a forge built and start crafting my own swords (which will still be a few years down the road before you could call me proficient).

Back Online

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Everything is in working order and I’m back online to take and fill orders! Things took a little longer than I was expecting, or hoping for, but all is well now. The power supply has been fixed and got it installed (obviously).

Downtime

Friday, October 5th, 2007

The site won’t actually be down, but my computer will be as of Friday October 12th. I had some power supply issues and am sending in my old one today to be fixed/replaced depending upon what PC Power and Cooling decides to do. Right now I’m using a backup one that I bought from Circuit City, but will be returning that one next Friday. Your orders won’t be forgotten, and they will be answered! I can’t even garuntee any sort of downtime, so this is just a precautionary warning.

Trips physical results

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Well the goal was always to make it to St. Louis for the Pirate Fest… but of course going by way of bicycle wasn’t always the most amazing of choices. Although the goal was physical, the trip was never about the physical destination. Anyways, I made it about one hundred miles outside of Kansas City and started running into troubles. I got a flat tire, which was okay, I came prepared with a spare inner tube. After fixing that flat I headed out and went another 10 miles or so before camping out. When I woke up in the morning my OTHER tire was flat… only had one inner tube so I was now in need of using my patch kit… which made me camp out at that site for another day since the patches require several hours to dry. I was never able to patch it completely since they require a “clean and dry” place to be patched, well… if you haven’t noticed neither of those conditions exist with one another in nature. So I decided to head back. I made it about another 20 miles coming back before airing the tire up constantly pulled the valve stem away from the inner tube… so now it was walking time. I walked about another 20-30 miles before camping once again outside of a Jahovah’s Witness church (didn’t know it at the time I was out there in the dark). In the morning I was out of water and went over to the church to fill up hoping to just kind of get what I needed and sneak off. They started to show up for their Sunday morning meeting and asked me to come in… I used the excuse that I had to get going had a long way to travel, and one of them offered to take me home if I stayed for the meeting… to that I happily agreed! So that’s how the trip stands.
